Prems into the Duff Rosebowl Final

Pepper Construction Rangers have qualified for the final of the Duff Rosebowl courtesy of a hard-fought 1-0 win over cross-town rivals Western at Lynmouth Park today. Sam de St Croix, who scores when he wants to, was on target yet again early in the match but Rangers were ultimately happy to hear the final whistle after repelling a spirited Western second half. Unofficial reports after the match had Moturoa finishing with 10 men but beating Woodleigh 6-0 in the other semi to set up a real derby final - which will be staged in... Eltham. The match at Lynmouth was a feisty but honest affair. Credit should go to FC Western defender Kasey Beckett who told the referee late in the game his decision to award a goalkick was wrong, and it was a corner. Rangers skipper Michael Somers said in his after-match speech that he acknowledged and appreciated the stick Rangers received from home fans, that's how it should be he said. That said, sportsmanship might not win trophies, but without it we don't have much of a game, so well done Western. We don't have all the details from matches yet, but in Division One Treehouse Rangers and our Oddbodz both recorded 4-2 wins. In Division 2 Rangers came back from 3-1 down to draw at Peringa, where in truth they should have put the game to bed in the first half. The goals came from Manju Kodandaram, Monty Ammundsen* and Will Hong. * Some players, who we have agreed not to name, have called for an enquiry into Monty's goal in the hope that someone can claim they got the final touch to his inswinging corner. For my money, it was a great goal from a player who finished the match covered in blood after arguing with a blackberry bush.
