Next season New Plymouth Rangers will be beginning a new initiative around Coach Development.
As a club we feel there is more we can do to support our coaches throughout the whole club, the more support we can provide our coaches with, the better it will be for the players and their development. Ultimately our goal is provide a platform for players to develop and grow and progress their football to the highest level possible so the first step in that is helping our coaches.
Alot of coaches are volunteers or parents that offer up so much of their time to help the kids, a fair amount of these volunteers openly acknowledge their limited football experience or knowledge their contribution is greatly appreciated by the club, but how can we help them even more?
From 2024, we will be hosting regular coach development meetings with all our coaches from the club, Lead by Director of Football Max Coleman and Women’s Head Coach Andrew Moore, our coaches will all come together once a month and reflect, share experiences and advice from their teams and environments, as a collective group we will be able to discuss issues and help provide solutions that are relevant to each coaches environment. If you have had a great month with your team and things have been going well, we encourage people to share, what has gone well? And how other coaches might be able to incorporate these learning into their own teams.
We have some coaches within the club who have a great knowledge of the game and are willing to share this to help the club as a whole.
Our goal is to provide our volunteer coaches with somewhere they can feel supported by the club and feel comfortable to ask for help our guidance.
Max and Andrew will also be able to go into a lot more detail with how they operate in their own environments, how they plan sessions and the process of they go through to analyse matches.
With the help of our VEO camera, Max and Andrew will also be able to provide a visual element to display how solutions are identified and problems can be solved. As well as how Junior and Youth coaches can translate some of these learnings into their own teams.
We see this as a very exciting new initiative that hopefully encourages more parents to volunteer to help coach Junior and Youth teams as there is a solid plan in place to provide as much support as possible, along side this Max, has created a club wide curriculum which coaches will be encouraged to follow as best they can and the Coach Development Group is a great way to help support the learning.
If you’re interested in coaching a Junior, Youth or Social Senior Team in 2024, please get in touch with either Max Coleman at nprangersdof@gmail.com or Tony Bennett at nprjuniors@gmail.com
2024 looks to be an exciting year for the club, come and be part of it!
